On Thursday, December 8, Amica, as a joint-stock company, celebrated 25 years of listing on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. During the ceremony, the company presented its Sustainable Development Strategy, which sets ambitious environmental, social and management goals for the coming years.
The end of 2022 marked 25 years since the first session at which Amica's shares were introduced to public trading. Since then, the company, which operated mainly on the Polish market and exported its equipment to neighboring countries, has become a European manufacturer of household appliances, and its devices are now sold under 5 brands in 70 markets around the world. The debut on the Warsaw Stock Exchange gave the company an impulse for dynamic development. In subsequent years, the manufacturer increased its expansion on foreign markets, creating or acquiring local brands in Europe: the eastern Hansa, the Scandinavian Gram, the British CDA, and the Spanish brand Fagor, which it then introduced to France through the previously acquired French distribution company Sideme.
Today, the company employs over 3,000 people worldwide, sells approximately 5 million devices per year and generates revenues exceeding PLN 3 billion (PLN 3.4 billion in 2021).
- Over the last 25 years, we have achieved many successes, but we have not avoided crises either. However, we have emerged from each one stronger. This was the case in the first years of the 2000s, or after 2010. These experiences have taught us how to cope in extreme situations, even during the pandemic, often making difficult decisions. But we probably would not be celebrating this anniversary today if it were not for the people who make up Amica, at every level of our operations, starting with qualified employees at the factory in Wronki, through teams working in offices, and ending with the management staff. We have built a team of open, brave and committed people. And this is the greatest value for me personally - admits Jacek Rutkowski, President of the Management Board of Amica, who has held this position continuously since 2003, and previously chaired its supervisory board for years.
Climate for the next 25 years
On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the status of a listed company, the Amica Group presented the Sustainable Development Strategy, which it has been working on for the last 12 months. This is a document that sets social and management goals for 2025 and 2030, as well as environmental goals for 2040 and 2050.
- Our sustainable development strategy is a natural consequence of previously undertaken actions. For years, we have been conducting pro-ecological activities that limit our impact on the environment, we invest in modern and efficient technologies, we take care of people and our teams, which can be read about in the 2021 sustainable development report presented for the first time this year. These activities affect many groups of our stakeholders, with whom we conduct regular and transparent dialogue. In the strategy, we tell them about our goals and ambitions, we want to show where we are heading and what we care about in the perspective of the next decades - says Michał Rakowski, member of the board of Amica responsible for finance, human resources and sustainable development.
In the social area, the company declares the development of talents in its teams, support for employee satisfaction and engagement, and the elimination of the Gender Pay Gap by 2030. An important pillar of the strategy in this area is to be the continuation of social activities, including through the Amicis Foundation, which supports people in need, as well as through activities that reduce food waste, or support sports activities and a healthy lifestyle. The company also focuses on the development of mental support.
In the third area – management – the company focuses on responsible partnership and plans to implement ESG criteria in the daily management of the supply chain. Amica also declares strengthening resilience through efficient management of the organization. This includes, among others, activities related to the Diversity Policy, as well as effective risk management and internal audit.
The sustainable development goals adopted in the ESG Strategy support the assumptions of the Group's business strategy and are an important tool in its implementation. The mission that will accompany the organization in the implementation of ESG goals is to be a resilient and sustainable European manufacturer of household appliances with a positive social impact.
